H. 'Risky Business'

Another 2008 addition. This time as a result of a 'Secret Trade' on Hallson's Hosta Forum and it came my way courtesy of Sabrina in Ottawa. Thanks again Sabrina! Here it is still on the potting bench, waiting for that special spot in the yard.

Hosta 'Risky Business'While I haven't found a permanent spot for it as yet, here it is almost a couple of months later and it's putting on some nice growth.

By mid-August it was putting up addtional shoots and when I had a request to share a division, I divided the plant to end up with 4 divisions. Being part of the 'Fortunei Hyacinthina' family it is already showing its heritage in the good growth it has shown. Given the vigour I saw out of it this year, I have no doubt the three that stayed here will all be bigger with more shoots next year.

This is the second 'Striptease' sport I have received in trade this year (2008), 'Hanky Panky' being the other one.

Just for fun, here's a Striptease 2009 family portrait. 'Striptease' is in the #2 pot top right, below it is the newest addition, 'Gypsy Rose', which proved to be HVX infected and now is no longer, beside that on the bottom left is 'Hanky Panky' and top left is 'Risky Business'.

Additional bare root stock was purchased from Costco in 2011, and almost as expected, contents did not match labeling. What it looks like I have is a supply of 'Gypsy Rose', which is related of course, seeing as both these cultivars are 'Striptease' derivatives. So, further supplies of 'Risky Business' for me will have to come from simple division. Being part of the Hyacinthina family means it's a vigorous grower, so I won't have to wait too many seasons to make that happen. It's already earmarked for division in 2012, after having spent 2011 growing out in the 'nursery'.

Hugo's Database shows some more details on this cultivar.

Guestbook use seems to have fallen out of favour, so we have deleted it, but, if there's something you'd like to say, simply use the form on the contact page.
