H. 'Blonde Elf'

They're kinda hard to see in this picture, but on July 24th 2007 they're in the front of the left hand container, soaking up some rainwater after making the journey from Ottawa. What I received was divided -it was a little too tempting not to- and ended up yielding 3 plants, more than I could have hoped for.

Turns out I have a related variety in 'Fresh'. Like 'Blonde Elf' it too is a sport of 'Amy Aden'. Except that it's edge variegated.

Like the other four varieties that made the journey from Ottawa, they're settling in nicely.

Being such a recent addition to the assortment it's difficult to say much about it, other than it's supposed to be a fairly rapid grower, which we'll see next year hopefully, and that by the middle of October they are one of the last ones to start to die back.

Hosta 'Blonde Elf'As you can see, the single shoot divisions from 2007 have grown quite nicely by mid-June '08. It certainly is living up to its reputation for being a vigorous grower.
