H. 'Blue Ivory'

This 'Halcyon' sport is another Costco 2010 acquisition. It's encouraging they would appear to be as labeled. Now it's grow it on for a couple of years and see if HVX shows its ugly head.

Apparently this cultivar has a habit of bleeding into the creamy variegation when things get a little too hot for its liking. I saw that with 2 of mine when they were still in the greenhouse, where the daytime temperature easily got to around 30º C a few times.

This is one of the two that have started to show the bleeding referred to above.

Hosta 'Liberty'This variety showed up again in the 2011 Costco bagged perennial assortment, thought I'd try a few more. As you can see though, this batch is not as labelled. Time will tell what we're dealing with in fact. Last year's on the left, this year's on the right....

Later on in the season I figured out the most likely identity of the new NOIDs, they probably are a 1980 Paul Aden introduction called 'Snow Cap'.

Costco offered this variety again in both 2012 and 2013. And again they were not as labeled. At least the 2013 ones were easy to identify: they were 'First Frost', which proved to be a blessing, seeing as I'd lost this variety to root rot in 2012.
