H. 'Lemon Frost'

Another 2008 addition. This time as a result of a 'Secret Trade' on Hallson's Hosta Forum and it came my way courtesy of Sabrina in Ottawa. Thanks again Sabrina! Here it is still on the potting bench, waiting for that special spot in the yard.

Last year we added 'Lemon Lime' and 'Lemon Delight'. The addition of this particular cultivar makes #3 in the 'Lemon' family. I'll have to remember to take a family portrait one of these days.

This is as close to a family portrait as I have come, a side by side comparison of these 2 'Lemon Lime' edge variegated cultivars. As you can see, they are different, with 'Lemon Frost' on the left being much lighter in overall colour than the 'Lemon Delight' on the right.

This early season shot -April 29th- shows quite clearly the semi-stoloniferous growth habit of this cultivar family. All are rapid growers, ready bloomers and will quickly fill in a border.

By 2012 we have several divisions, this being just one of them. This picture shows quite nicely how unstable this cultivar is, just look at the variance in the variegation width.

Hugo's Database shows some more details on this cultivar.
