This is one of the ones I acquired in July/08 and as with most I received that day, there no longer was a legible tag with the original plant and the guessing game started immediately. The original guess was that perhaps this was 'Blue Moon', but it wasn't until much later in the year that I stumbled across this cultivar and I said to myself "This looks rather familiar". I don't have many shots of it, only some close-ups of some of the leaves. Next year, 2009, will hopefully bring additional growth and fuller plants to allow me to verify my guess.

It sometimes takes a while before you can nail the ID of a NOID. In November '11 I saw some pictures of the flowers of 'Blue Wedgwood' along with a comment about the short scapes on them, that made me doubt my initial ID of this NOID in question. I kept going back and forth between the shots of mine, the pix in the HL and the posting on the forum and while I became certain I had incorrectly identified mine, it didn't bring me any closer to the correct ID. That is until I saw some pictures mid-November '11 of a freshly leafed-out 'Hadspen Blue' on Hostapix from a poster in New Zealand. As soon as I saw that picture I realized "THAT'S IT"! I'll leave my original comments in place, if for no other reason than to illustrate how long it can sometimes take to correctly identify a NOID, it was 3 years for this one for the 'DUH' moment.

For 2009 the plant initially was sitting in full sun and became hot enough at one point for the glaucous wax to begin melting, as you can see from the green patches on some of the leaves in this picture. It has since been moved to an area with mostly shade, it has put on additional growth, and is starting to produce scapes, including a fasciated one.

Here we are, 24 May 2012, and look at how good it looks! It fills out a 2-gallon pot quite nicely and I rather suspect it'll end up getting divided later in the season.

A little later, in mid June, here it is with some of its companions: 'Lemon Frost', 'Fragrant Blue' and 'Clear Fork River Valley'.

It never did get divided in 2012, I just let it be. It flowered and set seed, some of which will probably get seeded out in 2013 and depending on how many shoots we'll see emerge on the main plant in 2013 it will likely get divided then.

As you see, it has a nice, delicately coloured flower and it sets seed readily. I didn't bother this year with dabbing pollen from other cultivars on it this year, may give that a try in 2013.

I did germinate some OP seeds of this in 2013. They're growing nicely by the end of August, but there's not one among them that really jumps out at me. I had hoped there might be one or two yellows, but no luck. I'll try again next year with this year's pods.
