December 2007

Here we are, December 1st '07 and it's SNOWING, something the canines certainly enjoy!

The following day things got just a tad heavier as you can see. At least during the day. It had warmed considerably during the evening and by the next morning there was naught but water. Lots of it. Between the melting snow and the rain, the water on the road in front of the house just couldn't be drained fast enough and the intersection just south of the driveway was at times under 3 inches of water.

Ace was typically very good at catching the snowballs Waita tossed in the air. Neka however not only didn't catch them, she couldn't figured where they went once they hit the ground!

The weather this month has not been particularly conducive to spending a lot of time in the yard. So, imagine my surprise to see this leaf on a Hosta Revolution seedling still hanging in there on the 16th! Yes, the rest of the leaves have died back and are drying up pretty good, but this one leaf seems rather determined.

Winter came in with a vengeance! Nothing like this was in the forecast and it was quite the surprise to wake up to this on December 22nd, 2007. Mind you, it was all gone by evening, thank goodness.....

Look what I discovered Christmas Eve, the first TULIP!!! Wonder how it will make it through the winter...

Yes, I know winter has barely started and most likely the coldest parts are yet to come upon us, but try telling that to these snowdrops....

It was totally unexpected to have this Hellebore in flower in the middle of November, thank goodness the rest of the plant's buds aren't quite that eager, they're sticking to a more normal schedule.
