H. 'Moonstruck'

2010 is the third year in a row I have exchanged Hostas with the same lady in Brandon, MB. This is one of the ones I received this year. It looks a little squished here perhaps, but I have little doubt it'll come around in fairly short order.

It did come around, though it's not quite short order: 15 August 2011, a little more than a year it's been here now. While there still is only one shoot, it does show nice growth and I look forward to see it with one or more additional offsets next year.

I must admit to being rather taken with the red blush at the base of the petioles.

There really isn't very much you tell about a new cultivar in it's first year in the yard, so I didn't pay much attention to it. I was rather pleasantly surprised in 2011 to see how well it holds up late in the season. Here we are on the 10th of October and for all intents and purposes it looks pretty much the same as it did mid-August (see above), quite remarkable.
