H. 'Holy Mouse Ears'

There was plenty of excitement in the Klapwijk house on Friday the 12th of June. Among other things, 2 shipments of Hosta trades arrived that day and another 15 new varieties of Hosta were added to the collection that day. Without question this one, 'Holy Mouse Ears', qualifies as the most eagerly anticipated one in that lot. I have been enamored with 'Blue Mouse Ears' for a long time and was really looking forward to expanding the Mouse Ears family. 'Blue Mouse Ears' has been quite a vigorous grower for me and I'm keeping my fingers crossed this applies to all family members.

This was the 2nd member of the family and a 3rd one, 'Green Mouse Ears', was added October 17th, 2009.

By early September it had put on a nice bit of growth and, as the picture clearly shows, some of the leaves are streaking, possibly an indication it is reverting to 'Royal Mouse Ears'. We'll wait and see what 2010 brings for this, if one or more shoots are still streaking they'll get divided off.
