H. 'Green Mouse Ears'

No self-respecting, penny-pinching, pension-collecting Dutchman can resist a sale. Particularly when it's an end-of-season twofer sale on perennials at one of his favourite local nurseries. This is one of six Hostas that came home that fateful day, October 17th, 2009. Yes, I know, it looks a little worse for wear, but what do you expect this time of year...

This now makes the 3rd member of the BME family we have. There's the original 'Blue Mouse Ears' of course that we've had for going 4 years now, then earlier this spring we obtained a 'Holy Mouse Ears', and now we have added this one. AND, if you wanted to be pedantic, we also have 2 BME seedlings from this year. But before we get too excited about those, let's see how they come back in 2010.

Well, it may have been one of the last ones acquired last year, but it sure is one of the first ones up in 2010! Here it is on March 4th, and the single shoot we see is nice and fat, the way you'd expect it out of a BME family member.
