H. 'Cheatin Heart'
Saturday April 25th 2009 we took part in a workshop on doing hanging baskets with perennials at one of the local nurseries. As a participant you are given
a 15% discount on anything you buy that day. The workshop was conducted in one of their hoop greenhouses and I noticed plenty of Hosta around, of which several spoke to me.
This year I have really started to appreciate the bright yellow gold you see on some varieties, particularly this time of year, and this one struck a chord with me for that reason.
By early August it has started to fill out nicely and you can see 2 scapes starting to bud up already. Although it has greened up somewhat
since spring, it still clearly shows more yellow still, and that's nice to see.
It's now mid-July 2010 and there's no sign as yet of any scape development. The plant has been in mostly full sun and there certainly is no sign
of burn-out. It doesn't seem to have grown much compared to last year, drainage issues perhaps.
